Description

Working with a ternary concept (Triplets). Your left hand plays the Clave in the Wood Block, the right hand will play the Triplets, to reach the independence of your hands (it is important that you sing the subdivisions like Horacio does). This video consists of two exercises, the first one with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter notes of the triplet and the second with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th quarter notes of the triplet of the bar.

Commentary:

Groups of four notes, starting from the first beat. 1, 2, 3, 4… Groups of four starting from the second note. 1, 2, 3, 4… Then you have to do groups of five, of six, … And remember to keep moving these groups around the whole bar. This exercise is part of the group “Triplets with 1 Stroke Exercises” from 05029 to 05036. Remember: we play the Rumba Clave with the left hand and the triplets with the right hand. We are playing all these exercises with the right hand but don’t forget to play with both hands, so practice this exercise changing hands.
