How to apply the Clave in 6/8 with an internal subdivision of Triplets? Horacio explains it in a very simple way.

 

Commentary:

Afrocuban Music is the result of the mixture of the different percussion instruments as, frequently and as a result of the african music culture, these patterns were the sum of the different percussion instruments played by a group fo people. Playing in this kind of groups required a high level of independence and coordination. The following is a first step training to put it into practise. The first step will be to get used to hearing 2 rhythmical lines, playing at the same time even though we will play different rhythms. First we will work with our hands, and then our feet. In these first excercises, I advise you to concentrate on the hands to be able to hear the 2 lines going simultaneously. Here we have the 6/8 Clave with the triplet subdivision under, it will sound like this. 1, 2, 3, 4…
