Description

This exercise consists of 6 parts. Work with both hands (R-L or L-R) on the snare for the first four bars, then accenting with bass drum (BD) and cymbal (Cym) in the next four bars. The HiHat is always on quarter notes. Bar 1 – Right hand and left hand accent first quarter note of the triplet Bar 2 – Right hand and left hand accent second quarter note of the triplet Bar 3 – Right hand and left hand accent third quarter note of the triplet Bar 4 – Right hand and left hand accent first quarter note of the triplet with BD and Cym Bar 5 – Right hand and left hand accent second quarter note of the triplet with BD and Cym Bar 6 – Right hand and left hand accent third quarter note of the triplet with BD and Cym

 

Commentary:

Working with this type of figure requires a lot of concentration. Do not forget to recite the figures; in this case, when you play quarter note triplets, recite eighth note triplets. This will help you to control the different changes with greater ease and will also make you pay constant attention to your relation with the metronome.
