Description

This exercise has 16 parts: work with both hands (R-L or L-R), one stroke by each, and the HiHat always on quarter notes. Line 1 – Septuplets Line 2 – Quarter notes Line 3 – Septuplets Line 4 – Quarter note triplets Line 5 – Septuplets Line 6 – Eighth notes Line 7 – Septuplets Line 8 – Eighth note triplets Line 9 – Septuplets Line 10 – Sixteenth notes Line 11 – Septuplets Line 12 – Quintuplets Line 13 – Septuplets Line 14 – Sextuplets Line 15 – Septuplets Line 16 – Thirty-second notes

 

Commentary:

Septuplets are a figure that is a little difficult to grasp at first since it is an unusual one in our musical culture. Be careful and listen closely to the different strokes; since this an odd figure, if you start the first beat with your right hand, you will start the second with your left, and so on. This is a very good exercise to master the different figures and their combinations.
