Commentary:

Figures of this type will help you to attain good rhythmic control. The fact that it is an odd combination will make you listen closely and co-ordinate your strokes very well. There is a general tendency to accent the first stroke of each septuplet, since it coincides with the beat. This is a serious error and leads to rhythmic restriction of the instrumentalist. Practise this exercise with confidence and you will find that when you are playing, the mere fact of controlling all the possible accents will greatly increase your fluency.
