Description

This exercise has 16 parts: work with both hands (R-L or L-R), one stroke by each, and the HiHat always on quarter notes. Line 1 – Sextuplets Line 2 – Quarter notes Line 3 – Sextuplets Line 4 – Quarter note triplets Line 5 – Sextuplets Line 6 – Eighth notes Line 7 – Sextuplets Line 8 – Eighth note triplets Line 9 – Sextuplets Line 10 – Sixteenth notes Line 11 – Sextuplets Line 12 – Quintuplets Line 13 – Sextuplets Line 14 – Septuplets Line 15 – Sextuplets Line 16 – Thirty-second notes

 

Commentary:

Be careful from here on, because you are starting to combine figures with a high number of strokes, in this case six strokes per beat, with the other progressions. Listen to each stroke that you play. This type of exercise is very useful for types of music with “swing”, e.g. jazz and derivatives such as hip-hop, blues, rap, etc.
